ROBOTICA (Painting and Detailing by me)

image

1)  Smoothing and Sanding:  I spent a bit of time on this part, using card scrapers to shave the paint surfaces smooth.  Alternated between sanding (220-400 grit) and shaving to get the desired surface texture.

image

2)  Nice day to paint:  The hip pieces (back middle) I used black primer+gloss spray paint.  I would change this later on due to issues with movement in the joint.  Yes, that Xenomorph in the front is the purple one, and needless to say it looks hella badass now (still needs some detailing thought).

image

3)  Started with the legs to get some idea how I wanted her color pallette to fit (note, that is still silver paint, but it was so reflective, it caught the color of my shirt).

image

4)  Continued forward with the hips, knees and abdomen, keeping to a black highlight for recessed areas, and light purple/lavender color for raised lines.  Of note, the figure looks like she’s going to be something like 14 - 15″ tall (35.56 - 38.1 cm)

image

5)  Moved forward to the hands.  It dawned on me the contrast between the creation of this figure and a doll, more specifically a porcelain doll from old, and wanted to get a similar effect for the hands and face.

image

6)  Started work on her face, and loved the idea of her having metallic blue eyes to stand out.  I fought for a while how I wanted to present them in a way that they would show up, ultimately settling on black eyes (sockets) with metallic Caribbean Blue eyes (just my name for a mix of  metallic pthalocyanine blue and metallic emerald green).

image

7)  Now admittedly this look for her face creeped me out a bit as she was starting to look more like Harleyquinn (DC Comics), but that aside I was enjoying the use of magenta for the face’s eye shadow and upper lipstick.

image

8)  For the most part, she’s coming along very well, and glad I got the mat with measurements on it for good size references  At this point her body is mostly done, just a few nagging details to take care of.

image

9)  Finally got the face to about where I wanted.  Had some trouble getting the right mix for the metallic raspberry color (metallix mix of white, red, and the aforementioned blue).  I did away with the lavender eyebrows in favor of black so they would show up more, but overall I’m enjoying the effect.

The parts as a whole are going to be touched up one last time before getting a clear semi-gloss paint sealer, and should have the whole figure ready to present this week for everyone’s enjoyment.

Finished form and I found out her face can trigger snapchat filters.

Take note, in the game “XCOM:  Chimera Squad,” there are female “Vipers” (cobra humanoids), and they even have a “reputable establishment.”

If ever there was a game lost to the tides of time, and unfairly so, it’s One Must Fall 2097 … fighting game of the future.  Pilot consciousness was transferred to a 90 ft tall (27.4 m) combat machine, anywhere from light and fast Jaguar, to the titanic Nova (11 machines in total).  All mechs/bots (called Human-Assisted Robots, HARs) have their own sequence of special moves and the like (a la Street Fighter Style), but the added twist of Scrap and Destruction finishing moves (queue Mortal Kombat “FINISH HIM/HER” announcement).  The mechs movements were fluid, and the sounds for the mid-90s was superb (Power Plant being the best).  Oh, and lets not forget the added twist of the arena hazards, anywhere from being thrown against spiked walls, shot up by planes, or thrown into an electric fence.  The game also contained a kind of “campaign” for it’s World Tour, where you basically apply an RPG aspect to the game, turning yourself into a high speed, hard hitting bot pilot.  If ever there was a game ready for an update/upgrade/remake (unlike it’s shitty one from a few years ago), it’s OMF2097
